Chennai, India – The box office performance of the latest releases, Suriya and Mamitha Baiju’s "Vishwanath and Sons" and Thalapathy Vijay’s "Jana Nayagan," continues to draw significant attention. While "Vishwanath and Sons" saw a noticeable drop in its sixth-day collections, "Jana Nayagan" maintained a steady run as anticipation builds for its upcoming OTT debut.
"Vishwanath and Sons," starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, reportedly collected ₹5.10 crore net in India on its sixth day, Wednesday. This figure represents a 19.7% decline from its Day 5 earnings of ₹6.35 crore. The film, which registered 5,093 shows across India on Wednesday, has now accumulated a total India net collection of ₹77.40 crore, with its India gross reaching ₹89.49 crore.
Globally, "Vishwanath and Sons" added approximately ₹1 crore from overseas markets on Day 6, bringing its cumulative international gross to ₹46 crore. The film’s worldwide gross collection currently stands at an impressive ₹135.49 crore. Digging into the linguistic breakdown, the Tamil version contributed ₹2.50 crore on Day 6, while the Telugu version slightly surpassed it with ₹2.60 crore.
Occupancy Report: Telugu Version Shows Stronger Hold
On Day 6, the Tamil version of "Vishwanath and Sons" recorded an overall occupancy of 20.12%. Morning shows saw 15.23%, afternoon shows reached 20%, evening shows hovered at 20.92%, and night shows peaked at 24.31%.
The Telugu version, however, demonstrated stronger audience engagement with an overall occupancy of 27.99%. Morning shows registered 15.25%, afternoon shows climbed to 24.33%, evening shows reached 27.17%, and night shows delivered the highest occupancy at 37.50%.
State-wise Contribution to Day 6 Gross
The film’s Day 6 state-wise gross collection totaled ₹5.89 crore. The Andhra Pradesh-Telangana region led with ₹2.50 crore, followed closely by Tamil Nadu with ₹2.15 crore. Karnataka contributed ₹65 lakh, Kerala added ₹50 lakh, and the rest of India accounted for ₹9 lakh.
"Jana Nayagan" Sustains Momentum Ahead of Digital Release
In contrast, Thalapathy Vijay’s "Jana Nayagan" continues its successful theatrical run. Over 28 days, the film has amassed a substantial India net collection of ₹197.26 crore, with its India gross reaching ₹229.71 crore. Its overseas gross stands at an impressive ₹93.50 crore, pushing the worldwide gross collection to a remarkable ₹323.21 crore.
Fans of "Jana Nayagan" can look forward to its highly anticipated OTT premiere, scheduled for August 21, 2026. This digital release is expected to further boost the film’s reach and revenue.
