'Will Make Great Governor For Ohio': JD Vance Backs Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy

JD Vance Endorses Vivek Ramaswamy for Ohio Governor, Touting Future Leadership

MIDDLETOWN, OHIO — US Vice-President JD Vance has officially thrown his support behind entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy in his bid for governor of Ohio. The endorsement, delivered during a high-profile manufacturing event in Vance’s hometown, signals a major boost for the Indian-American conservative as he seeks to lead the Buckeye State.

Vance announced his support on Friday while speaking at the Cleveland-Cliffs steel plant, where the company recently unveiled a $1 billion investment in its Middletown operations. Addressing the crowd, Vance lauded the 2024 GOP primary veteran, stating, "We’ve also got, I believe, a great gubernatorial candidate, a great governor of Ohio, but also a great next governor of Ohio, my friend, Vivek Ramaswamy."

The endorsement is a significant development in state politics, further elevating the profile of the Cincinnati-born Ramaswamy, who rose to national prominence as a fierce advocate for Donald Trump’s "America First" agenda.

A Humorous Connection

Beyond the political gravity of the moment, the Vice-President lightened the mood by recounting a recent internet meme involving his six-year-old son, who also happens to be named Vivek.

Vance shared a story about taking his young son to a polling station during Ohio’s recent primary elections. Following the visit, social media users circulated an AI-generated image depicting the Vice-President walking hand-in-hand with Ramaswamy toward a polling location, playfully confusing the two Viveks.

"I don’t think that anybody needed to encourage Vivek to go to the polling location that day," Vance joked. "When your name is on the ballot, nobody needs to make you go vote."

Focus on Manufacturing and Policy

The endorsement served as a centerpiece to a broader address focused on domestic manufacturing, trade, and immigration. Vance, whose grandfather spent nearly four decades working as a welder at the very facility where the speech was held, used the venue to pivot toward a protectionist economic vision.

He sharply criticized past political and corporate leaders for outsourcing American production and relying on foreign labor. "What we did is we told American corporations that if you wanted new workers, you got to start by training and hiring your own countrymen," Vance said, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to industrial growth.

While the speech did not outline specific new immigration regulations or address the H-1B skilled-worker visa program directly, it underscored a platform rooted in prioritizing the American workforce.

The Rise of Ramaswamy

Ramaswamy’s entry into the gubernatorial race follows a high-octane 2024 presidential campaign that cemented his role as a key voice in the Republican party. As the son of immigrants from Kerala, his rise to the top of Ohio’s political landscape is being closely watched as a testament to the growing influence of Indian Americans within conservative circles.

With his background in biotechnology and finance, combined with the powerful backing of the Vice-President, Ramaswamy’s campaign appears poised to be a dominant force in the coming election cycle. Observers agree that Vivek Ramaswamy is set to play a pivotal role in the future of Ohio’s executive branch.
