Silambarasan TR Addresses Political Aspirations, Reflects on Father’s Legacy and Vijay’s Political Tenure
As the landscape of Tamil Nadu politics becomes increasingly intertwined with the glitz of the film industry, actor Silambarasan TR has finally broken his silence regarding his own potential entry into the political arena. In a candid conversation, the star addressed persistent rumors, his father’s past experiences, and his perspective on the burgeoning political career of his contemporary, Vijay.
A Measured Distance from Politics
Despite frequent speculation surrounding his political intentions, Silambarasan remains firmly focused on his cinematic career. Speaking with Savukku Shankar, the actor explicitly stated that politics is not on his immediate horizon.
His reluctance is deeply rooted in personal history. Observing the struggles his father, T Rajendar, endured during his own political journey left a lasting impression on the younger actor. “I don’t really take politics seriously,” Silambarasan admitted. “When my father started his party and entered the political fray, I saw all the problems and hurdles he faced with my own eyes. Because of that, I don’t have a great interest in it.”
He took a moment to pay tribute to his father, acknowledging the elder Rajendar’s resilience: “My father is a much more dedicated person than me. Whether it is cinema or public life, he is a better person than I am.”
The Future Remains Unwritten
While he has ruled out any current plans to launch a party—even joking that the constant questioning about his political entry might eventually drive him to do so—Silambarasan stopped short of closing the door entirely. When questioned about a potential run for office in 2031, he maintained an air of uncertainty. “As of now, I have no idea of entering politics. But who knows what will happen in the future?” he remarked, leaving his long-term options open.
Perspectives on Vijay’s Leadership
The conversation inevitably shifted to the political transition of fellow star Vijay, who has recently entered the public sphere as a political figure. Asked to evaluate Vijay’s performance after his initial 100 days, Silambarasan advocated for patience.
“I don’t know much about the specifics, but judging someone’s government within 100 days would be a very rushed decision,” he noted. “He needs to be given more time. I think for now, he is doing well.”
When pressed on whether he might extend political support to Vijay in the future, Silambarasan remained non-committal. “We don’t know what will happen next. Let’s see. We will face whatever comes,” he said.
For the time being, it is clear that Silambarasan TR is prioritizing his craft, content to let the political landscape evolve before deciding his own role in it. While the allure of politics continues to draw in many of his peers, the Arasan actor seems determined to carve his own path, guided by the lessons of the past and a cautious, wait-and-see approach to the future.
