Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the LBO position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: A graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years old as of August 1, 2026.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of one year of post-qualification experience as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank (as defined by the RBI). Note that clerical-level experience does not count toward this requirement.
- Language Proficiency: Applicants must be proficient in the local language of the state they are applying for. Candidates who have studied the local language in Class 10 or 12 are exempt from the mandatory Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT).
Selection Process and Exam Structure
The selection process involves an objective-type online examination followed by a Group Discussion and/or Personal Interview.
The online exam consists of 120 questions carrying 120 marks, to be completed in two hours. The structure is as follows:
- English Language: 30 questions (Qualifying in nature; marks are not included in the final merit list)
- Banking Knowledge: 30 questions
- General/Economic Awareness: 30 questions
- Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude: 30 questions
A negative marking scheme is in place, with a 0.25-mark penalty for every incorrect answer.
