The theatrical race at the box office has intensified as two major films, Vishwanath and Sons and DC, witnessed a significant boost in performance on their respective second and third Saturdays.

‘Vishwanath and Sons’ Exhibits Strong Momentum

The family drama Vishwanath and Sons, starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, continued its impressive run, marking a massive 61.1% jump in earnings on its ninth day. According to data from Sacnilk, the film raked in an estimated India net of Rs 7.25 crore, a stark increase from the Rs 4.50 crore earned on its eighth day.

The film has maintained high audience interest, screening across 3,007 shows. This surge brings the movie’s total India net collection to Rs 93.35 crore, with the India gross reaching Rs 107.97 crore. On a global scale, the film’s performance is even more robust. With an additional Rs 2 crore from overseas markets on Saturday, the total worldwide gross for the film has climbed to an impressive Rs 160.22 crore.

The audience turnout was particularly strong during night screenings, where the Tamil version recorded a 59.31% occupancy rate. Regional performance remained steady, with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributing Rs 3.25 crore, while Tamil Nadu added Rs 3.50 crore to the day’s tally.

‘DC’ Keeps Up the Pace

Parallel to the success of Vishwanath and Sons, the action-packed film DC, featuring Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi, also saw a favorable uptick in its third weekend.

On its sixteenth day, DC grossed an estimated India net of Rs 1.62 crore, marking a 47.3% improvement over its previous day’s figures. This brings the film’s India net to Rs 64.21 crore, while its total worldwide gross has now touched the Rs 95.89 crore mark, placing it on the cusp of the Rs 100 crore milestone.

Occupancy for DC peaked during its night shows, with the Tamil version recording 50.46% occupancy, reflecting sustained interest from action genre enthusiasts.

Market Outlook

As both films continue to show strength, trade analysts expect this momentum to carry through into the upcoming Sunday. The sustained growth for Vishwanath and Sons box office collections proves the enduring appeal of family-oriented content in the current market, while DC continues to carve out a steady niche for itself among action fans.
