Safety Incident at Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Promotional Event in Hyderabad Leads to Police Action
HYDERABAD – A highly anticipated promotional event for the upcoming blockbuster Toxic, featuring Kannada superstar Yash, turned into a scene of chaos and concern on Saturday night. Authorities have launched an investigation following an accident that left four people injured after a temporary sound structure collapsed at Malla Reddy University.
The Incident
The event, which drew a massive crowd of fans eager to catch a glimpse of the KGF star, took a distressing turn when a group of attendees climbed onto a sound box system stand to get a better view. The structural integrity of the apparatus failed under the weight, causing the stand to collapse and sending four individuals plummeting to the ground.
Emergency services were immediately alerted, and all four injured individuals were rushed to a local hospital for medical attention. A senior police official confirmed the nature of the injuries, stating, "One student suffered a leg fracture, while three others sustained minor injuries."
In response to the safety breach, local police have registered a formal case against the university management and the event organizers for negligence and failing to ensure the safety of the public.
Yash Prioritizes Fan Safety
During the commotion, Yash—who was on stage addressing the audience at the time—immediately halted his speech upon noticing the collapse. Concerned for the wellbeing of his followers, the actor was seen checking in on the crowd, repeatedly asking, "Is it okay there? Please check… be careful. Are you safe?"
As the event continued, Yash remained vigilant. Upon spotting another group attempting to scale a different elevated structure, he paused his address once more to sternly advise them to climb down, prioritizing the safety of the gathering over the event’s momentum.
High Expectations for ‘Toxic’
The promotional tour has generated immense buzz for Toxic, an ambitious action-thriller directed by Geetu Mohandas. The film, which features a story co-written by Yash and Mohandas, is set against the backdrop of Goa between the early 1940s and the 1970s.
Yash is slated to star in a dual role, portraying characters named Raya and Ticket. The project boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth.
As the team moves forward, the focus remains on the film’s scheduled worldwide release on August 26. However, the recent four injured at Yash’s Toxic event has sparked a wider conversation regarding crowd control and safety protocols at large-scale promotional events in the film industry.
