Samsung TV Plus Hits Major Milestone: Reaches 200 Channels in India with New Content Partnerships

NEW DELHI – Samsung TV Plus, the electronics giant’s signature free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service, has officially reached a significant milestone in India, now offering a diverse library of 200 streaming TV channels. This expansion underscores the platform’s rapid growth and its deepening commitment to providing premium, subscription-free entertainment to millions of Indian households.

To celebrate the achievement, Samsung has entered into a strategic partnership with NH Studioz, a powerhouse in Indian cinema distribution, to introduce two new specialized channels: Aashirwad TV and Thalaivar Hits.

Expanding the Content Ecosystem

The growth of the platform from 50 channels to its current 200-channel lineup reflects a broader trend in India’s media landscape: the rapid migration toward Connected TV (CTV). With over 100 million monthly active users globally, the service—which comes pre-installed on all Samsung Smart TVs—has become a cornerstone of the modern living room.

“Our focus has always been on offering viewers more of the content they love,” said Kunal Mehta, General Manager and Head of Business Development, Samsung TV Plus India. “This milestone reflects our commitment to continuously bringing diverse entertainment choices across genres to our viewers. The addition of Aashirwad TV and Thalaivar Hits further enriches our portfolio with beloved stories and iconic films that resonate with audiences across generations.”

Celebrating Cultural Legends

The new channels are designed to cater to the cultural preferences of the Indian audience:

  • Aashirwad TV: A destination for family-friendly, timeless entertainment, the channel features classic mythological epics, including Ramayana, Shree Ganesha, and Om Namah Shivaay.
  • Thalaivar Hits: A tribute to the legends of South Indian cinema, this channel focuses on the works of superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Viewers can expect a curation of cult classics and blockbuster hits, such as Kai Kodukkum and Thambikku Entha Ooru.

“Indian viewers increasingly seek curated content experiences that resonate with their cultural and regional preferences,” noted Shreyans Hirawat, Head of Film Business & Innovation at NH Studioz. “While Aashirwad TV offers timeless mythological and devotional stories, Thalaivar Hits is our tribute to the enduring legacy of Superstar Rajinikanth, celebrating one of Indian cinema’s most iconic cultural phenomena.”

A Growing Impact

The expansion comes on the heels of major industry recognition. Samsung TV Plus India was recently honored as the “CTV Platform of the Year” at the prestigious BCS Ratna Awards. This accolade highlights the platform’s role in shaping the future of digital television in the region.

As the platform continues to evolve, it remains a key player in the Indian Connected TV ecosystem, seamlessly blending global tech standards with locally relevant content. With its extensive catalog of news, sports, movies, and entertainment available at no extra cost, Samsung is poised to capture an even larger share of the Indian streaming market as it continues to scale its operations.
