Star Plus Maintains Dominance in UK Asian Television Market
Star Plus continues to cement its position as the undisputed leader in the UK’s Hindi entertainment landscape, further extending its reach during the latest monitoring period. According to exclusive data provided by UK Asian TV ratings, the network remains the preferred choice for South Asian viewers across the region.
A Commanding Lead
On Monday, Star Plus secured a significant lead over its competitors, capturing a 0.20% share of the audience. This performance places the channel well ahead of its closest rivals in the Hindi genre; Sony TV and Colors both trailed significantly with a share of 0.02% each, while ZEE TV followed with 0.01%. Sony SAB managed to hold a marginally stronger position than the other secondary networks, reporting a 0.06% share.
Prime Time Success
The dominance of Star Plus was largely driven by a robust lineup of flagship programming that continues to draw substantial audiences. Both Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and the long-running fan-favorite Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai led the channel’s performance, each attracting 42,000 viewers. The drama Oh Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera also performed strongly, rounding out the top three for the network with a viewership of 29,000.
Performance Across Other Networks
While Star Plus maintained its stronghold on the Hindi genre, Sony SAB found its own pockets of success. The long-running sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah proved to be its top performer, drawing 19,000 viewers, followed by Pushpa Impossible, which secured an audience of 10,000.
Despite the fierce competition within the Hindi entertainment sector, the broader landscape saw PTC Punjabi emerge as the overall leader for the day. The channel claimed the top spot across all Asian networks with an impressive audience share of 0.39%, underscoring the growing influence and reach of regional language programming in the UK media market.
