Ranaut criticized the styling choices, remarking, “From cocktail dresses to lehenga cholis, jeans to saris… from all the options that are available to us today, why would you tie your brother a rakhi in your bikini/undergarments? The advert looks intentionally creepy!”

Nupur Sanon, who shares a close bond with her sister, did not hold back in her defense. Addressing the intrusive nature of the comments, she wrote on social media: “Imagine being this bothered by what another woman chooses to wear. Respectfully, evolve.”
She further countered the narrative by highlighting her own role in the real-life tradition they share. “PS: I’m the one she tied the rakhi to, and if I don’t have a problem with it, why do you?” she added, effectively dismissing the moral outrage directed at her sister’s sartorial choices.
