Yash’s ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ Cleared for Release with ‘A’ Certificate After CBFC-Mandated Cuts

The cinematic landscape is buzzing with the arrival of the highly anticipated gangster drama, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. Starring Kannada superstar Yash in the lead role, the film hit theaters on August 26, 2026. However, its path to the silver screen was not without hurdles, as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) required several modifications to the Hindi-dubbed version to secure its theatrical release.

CBFC Mandates Dialogue and Visual Edits

In a final push before the film’s premiere, the CBFC Examining Committee completed the certification process for the Hindi version on August 25. To align with censorship guidelines, the makers were directed to implement a series of changes, resulting in an ‘A’ (Adult) certificate.

According to reports, the committee requested the removal or replacement of various abusive terms throughout the film. Notably, a dialogue in the first half of the movie, as well as a specific line in the second half involving language directed at a child, were ordered to be muted. Furthermore, a sequence depicting drug use was trimmed to meet regulatory standards.

In a move to ensure the Hindi-speaking audience receives the appropriate context, the board also mandated that a statutory warning previously appearing in Tamil be replaced with a Hindi version. Another instance of an obscene dialogue in the latter half of the film was also ordered for replacement.

Runtime and Regional Certification

The official certification reveals that Toxic is an expansive cinematic experience, clocking in at 194 minutes and 12 seconds—just over three hours and 14 minutes.

While the Hindi version faced more extensive scrutiny, the Tamil version of the film, which was certified earlier on August 20, underwent fewer adjustments. The only notable change for the Tamil release was the replacement of a single abusive phrase, suggesting a smoother path to certification compared to the Hindi edit.

A High-Stakes Gangster Drama

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is being hailed as a grand-scale gangster drama. The film promises an intense exploration of crime, power, and complex human relationships. Beyond Yash, the film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, and Akshay Oberoi.

Produced by Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions in collaboration with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations LLP, the film has generated significant pre-release hype. With the Toxic Hindi version now officially cleared for viewing, fans of the actor are eager to see if the film lives up to its massive expectations in theaters.
