Kartik Aaryan resumes shooting for Anurag Basu's romantic drama with Sreeleela while recovering from knee surgery with close-up scenes planned around his recovery - Report | Hindi Movie News

Kartik Aaryan Returns to Film Set Shortly After Knee Surgery

In a display of remarkable professional commitment, Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan has resumed shooting for Anurag Basu’s highly anticipated, yet-untitled romantic drama. The actor’s return to the sets at Film City, Goregaon, comes only days after he underwent surgery for a knee injury sustained during the filming of a physically demanding action sequence for another upcoming sports project.

Adapting to Recovery

Despite the recent medical procedure, Aaryan and director Anurag Basu are determined to keep the production on schedule as it enters its final stretch. To accommodate his recovery, the production team has strategically planned the remaining shoot to prioritize close-up shots and scenes that require minimal physical movement. According to reports, both the actor and the director decided against delaying the production further, with the team aiming to wrap up the project by the end of August. The film, which features Aaryan alongside Sreeleela, marks a pivotal project in the actor’s diverse filmography.

A Humorous Take on a Hardship

The injury occurred on August 18 during the filming of a sports drama directed by Kabir Khan. Shortly after his surgery at Mumbai’s Fortis Raheja Hospital, Aaryan kept his spirits high by sharing a lighthearted update with his fans on Instagram. Posting pictures of his braced leg and hospital setup, he playfully captioned the post, “Kabir sir said – Break a leg.” The director joined in the banter, humorously replying, “HaHaha… Bhai Har baat itni seriously mat sunna karo,” suggesting the actor had taken the idiomatic expression a bit too literally.

Building Momentum

This setback comes during a career-defining period for the star. Fresh off his massive success in Chandu Champion—which earned him a share of the Best Actor honour at the 72nd National Film Awards for his portrayal of Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar—Aaryan is currently riding a wave of critical and commercial momentum.

The upcoming untitled film with Kabir Khan, which is inspired by the life of Kashmiri kickboxing champion Tajamul Islam, is particularly notable as it marks Aaryan’s debut as a producer.

A Busy Road Ahead

Aaryan shows no signs of slowing down his professional pace. Beyond his current commitments, his future slate includes a wide variety of high-profile projects. Fans can look forward to seeing him headline the project Naagzilla, directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and his highly anticipated return to the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise for the fourth installment. Additionally, the actor is slated to star in Captain India and an untitled project with director Sandeep Modi, cementing his position as one of the busiest and most versatile leading men in the industry today.
