Samsung's Wild New Odyssey Lineup Includes A 1,100Hz Gaming Monitor

Samsung Pushes the Boundaries of Reality with New 1,100Hz Odyssey Gaming Monitors

At this year’s Gamescom, Samsung has officially taken the wraps off its latest generation of Odyssey gaming monitors, a collection so advanced that it feels less like consumer electronics and more like a glimpse into a future of display technology that the human eye might struggle to keep up with.

The Korean tech giant is pushing the envelope of speed, resolution, and immersion, led by a flagship model that sets a staggering new industry benchmark.

The World’s First 1,100Hz Display

The star of the show is undoubtedly the 27-inch Odyssey G6. Samsung has officially dubbed it the world’s first 1,100Hz gaming monitor, a massive leap over the 1,040Hz prototype it teased earlier last year. While such a high refresh rate enters the realm of diminishing returns for the average gamer, it represents a monumental achievement for competitive esports professionals seeking every possible millisecond of latency advantage.

The G6 offers a 1ms response time and utilizes a clever dual-mode functionality. Users can run the panel at 1,100Hz while locked to a 1080p resolution, or swap to a 1440p resolution at a still-impressive 600Hz. Featuring an IPS display, this monitor is expected to arrive in the second half of 2026, though pricing remains under wraps.

A Masterclass in Refresh Rate Versatility

Following the G6, Samsung introduced the Odyssey OLED G8, a 32-inch 4K powerhouse that prioritizes flexibility. It allows users to toggle between three distinct modes:

  • 4K resolution at 360Hz
  • 1440p resolution at 520Hz
  • 1080p resolution at 680Hz

Equipped with Samsung’s proprietary Glare Free anti-reflection coating and support for both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync, the G8 aims to be the ultimate all-rounder for high-end enthusiasts.

Size Meets Speed: The OLED G9 and G7

For those who prefer a more panoramic experience, the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 enters the fray as the world’s first DQHD (5,120 x 1,440) monitor capable of a 360Hz refresh rate. Built with a QD-OLED Penta Tandem panel, it reaches a peak brightness of 1,300 nits. For those who prioritize raw speed over resolution, the monitor can switch to a 2,560 x 720 Dual HD mode, pushing the refresh rate up to a blistering 720Hz.

Rounding out the lineup is the Odyssey OLED G7, which brings a different flavor to the series. It is a 42-inch curved OLED panel featuring a 1000R curvature and a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. While it “only” hits a 165Hz refresh rate at 4K resolution, its immersion-focused design makes it a standout for single-player enthusiasts.

Looking Ahead

Samsung’s latest Odyssey gaming monitor lineup clearly signals a shift toward specialized, high-performance hardware. While the company has been tight-lipped regarding specific pricing and exact release dates for the latter models in the series, one thing is certain: the bar for gaming display performance has been raised to an unprecedented, and perhaps absurd, height.
