Morgan Advanced Materials Trims Debt with £53 Million Exit from Foseco India

WINDSOR, UK – Morgan Advanced Materials PLC, the London-listed specialist in thermal, ceramic, and carbon manufacturing, has finalized the divestment of its remaining interest in Foseco India Ltd. The move marks a strategic step in the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its balance sheet.

In a regulatory filing on Friday, the Windsor-based firm announced it had sold its entire 15% stake in Foseco India, totaling 1.2 million shares. The transaction, valued at approximately £53 million, comes as the group doubles down on its long-term objective of debt reduction.

“The proceeds will be used to reduce net debt, consistent with the group’s previously stated focus on de-leveraging,” the company stated in its announcement.

A Legacy of Strategic Divestment

The shares sold in this transaction were originally acquired by Morgan Advanced Materials as part of a larger corporate restructuring last year. At that time, the group offloaded its Molten Metal Systems division to the engineering firm Vesuvius PLC. The stake in Foseco India was retained as a component of that deal, which Morgan Advanced has now opted to liquidate to bolster its cash position.

Market response to the news was positive, with Morgan Advanced Materials shares rising 1.2% to 240.24 pence in early Friday trading on the London Stock Exchange.

Focus on Financial Health

The decision to exit the Indian equity market highlights Morgan Advanced’s disciplined approach to capital allocation. By prioritizing the reduction of net debt, the company aims to improve its financial flexibility and resilience in an increasingly volatile industrial sector.

The successful divestment underscores the firm’s commitment to its de-leveraging strategy, a core component of its recent corporate communications. Investors continue to monitor how the company will balance further efficiency drives with its core engineering and electronics portfolios.
