First Look: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered Runs on Switch 2 at Gamescom

Experience the Continent like never before as early handheld footage shows Geralt’s latest adventure hitting the Nintendo Switch 2.

Gamescom is currently in full swing, and our video producer, Alex, has secured an exclusive hands-on session with one of the most anticipated titles for Nintendo’s upcoming hardware: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered.

The title, which is set to breathe new life into CD Projekt Red’s sprawling open-world epic, is already showing remarkable promise on the Switch 2. Better yet, we have managed to secure raw capture footage from the show floor, giving fans a clear look at how the game performs in a handheld environment.

Performance and Visual Fidelity

It is important to note that the footage captured is from an early build of the game. As such, while it serves as a fantastic proof-of-concept, it may not perfectly mirror the final polish players will experience when the game officially launches on September 29th.

In terms of technical performance, the build currently targets a stable 30fps. However, thanks to the hardware’s support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), CD Projekt Red recently confirmed that the title can push upward to 40fps in specific scenarios, providing a smoother, more responsive experience than its predecessor could ever dream of achieving on original hardware.

Beyond the Graphics

While the visual leap is immediately apparent, the “Remastered” tag brings more than just a fresh coat of paint. Alex’s hands-on time highlighted several key quality-of-life improvements, including refined combat mechanics that make Geralt’s dance of death feel more fluid and precise. These adjustments, combined with the obvious graphical enhancements, suggest that this won’t just be a simple port, but a definitive way to experience the saga on the go.

As we count down the days to the September 29th release, the consensus is clear: The Witcher 3 on Switch 2 is shaping up to be an impressive technical showcase for Nintendo’s next-gen console.
