Kareena Kapoor Khan Reflects on Regrets and Raising the Next Generation: “Education Comes First”
Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan has opened up about her personal journey, revealing that despite her immense success in Hindi cinema, she carries a lingering regret: cutting her education short.
In a candid interview with Hanuman Dass, the actor shared that she chose to leave her formal studies after Class 11 to pursue a career in acting. While that decision launched one of the most prolific careers in Indian film history, she admits that it is a choice she frequently reflects upon.
“I never finished my education, and that was something that kind of stayed with me,” Kareena confessed. While she acknowledges that her younger self was driven by a passion to prove her acting credentials, she admits that the lack of a completed education remains a source of personal regret.
Prioritizing Education for Taimur and Jeh
This personal experience has profoundly shaped how Kareena approaches parenting her two sons, Taimur and Jeh. She is adamant that while she wants her children to follow their dreams, they must prioritize their schooling first.
“That’s why I have pushed my boys to finish their education first and then follow their hearts,” she stated.
Discussing the aspirations of her eldest son, Taimur, the actor revealed that he has set his sights on the world of professional sports. Whether it is cricket or football, Taimur has expressed a desire to compete on a global stage. Kareena is fully supportive of these ambitions, emphasizing that she and husband Saif Ali Khan have no intention of pressuring their children to enter the film industry.
“It’s not like because we come from a film family… he has to become an actor,” she noted. “We have to encourage him and push him in the right direction.”
Philanthropy and Quiet Compassion
Beyond her roles as a mother and actor, Kareena has been a prominent advocate for social causes, having served as a UNICEF India ambassador since 2014. Her philosophy on charity is deeply personal; she believes that meaningful impact comes from genuine commitment rather than performative gestures.
“Actions speak louder than words,” she said, noting that she and Saif prefer to keep their philanthropic efforts private. “I feel it is more from the heart than from words.”
A New Chapter in Motherhood
Reflecting on the experience of raising two boys, the actor admitted that it has been a unique learning curve. Growing up in a household with her sister, Karisma Kapoor, the dynamics of “boyhood” are a new territory for her.
“I’m officially a football mom and I’m officially a cricket mom,” she laughed. “It’s almost like an out-of-body experience because I never grew up with a brother… I’m learning each day.”
Ultimately, for the star, the academic or professional success of her children takes a backseat to the values they embody. When asked what she hopes for her sons’ futures, her answer remains simple: “The only things I always want to see in my boys are compassion and kindness. Those are two things that can take you the longest way.”
