‘Toxic’ Box Office Update: Yash-Starrer Sees Mid-Week Dip, Crosses Rs 320 Crore Worldwide
The cinematic juggernaut Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, headlined by superstar Yash, has hit a slight speed bump in its theatrical journey. After maintaining a steady momentum early in the week, the film experienced a 35% decline in earnings on its eighth day, collecting an estimated Rs 5.10 crore net across India on Wednesday.
A Look at the Numbers
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the mid-week drop brought the film’s domestic net collection to Rs 234.70 crore. This follows a relatively strong showing on Tuesday, where the Geetu Mohandas directorial pulled in Rs 7.85 crore. Despite the Wednesday dip, the film’s overall financial performance remains robust, with its total worldwide gross surging past the Rs 320 crore milestone, reaching Rs 322 crore.
The breakdown of the domestic gross stands at Rs 280.25 crore, complemented by a consistent performance in the overseas market, which added Rs 1 crore on Wednesday to reach a cumulative international gross of Rs 41.75 crore.
Language-Wise Performance and Occupancy
Toxic saw varying levels of engagement across its multi-lingual releases on day eight:
- Hindi: Rs 3.15 crore (9,009 shows, 13.19% occupancy)
- Kannada: Rs 1.35 crore (1,099 shows, 21.70% occupancy)
- Telugu: Rs 40 lakh (1,134 shows, 15.46% occupancy)
- Tamil: Rs 17 lakh (1,023 shows, 14.89% occupancy)
- Malayalam: Rs 3 lakh (167 shows, 12% occupancy)
While the Hindi version accounted for the bulk of the revenue, the Kannada version outperformed other languages in terms of occupancy, peaking at 27.38% during afternoon screenings. Data indicates that while morning and afternoon shows saw varying levels of footfall, many regions saw an uptick in attendance during late-night screenings.
