Three of the 10 most expensive signings in the history of football were completed this summer, all within the Premier League. In total, the window featured four of the division’s five most expensive deals ever. Among the 20 most expensive global transfers this summer, a commanding 14 were completed by English clubs, leaving only six for the rest of the world.

Six of those clubs repeated the feat multiple times, with Coventry—also newly promoted—breaking their own transfer record on four separate occasions.
