Airbus Partners with Indamer Technics to Launch South Asia’s First Radome Repair Facility in Nagpur
NAGPUR, India – European aerospace giant Airbus has announced a strategic partnership with Indamer Technics to establish the first comprehensive radome repair facility in South Asia. Located in Nagpur, this landmark facility is set to significantly bolster the regional aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) ecosystem, aligning with India’s growing status as a global aviation hub.
The service agreement designates Indamer Technics as an authorized provider for the repair, storage, and exchange of radomes—the vital, weatherproof nose-cone structures that protect an aircraft’s radar and antenna systems—across the Airbus A320, A330, A350, and A380 families.
Strengthening India’s Aerospace Capabilities
The establishment of this facility marks a significant milestone in India’s aviation sector. By localizing these highly technical repair capabilities, Airbus is directly supporting the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ mission, reducing dependency on overseas repair centers and drastically cutting turnaround times for regional airline operators.
Jürgen Westermeier, President and Managing Director of Airbus in India and South Asia, emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration. “This agreement is a major milestone in our commitment to building a robust, localised aerospace ecosystem in India. As the region prepares for unprecedented fleet expansion, this facility ensures we can support our customers with significantly reduced turnaround times, keeping their aircraft flying efficiently,” Westermeier said.

Indamer Technics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Horizon Aero Solutions Limited—a joint venture between Adani Defence & Aerospace and Prime Aero—is well-positioned to manage the facility’s high-tech requirements.

Technical Scope and Future Outlook
A radome is a sophisticated piece of aerospace engineering, designed to shield sensitive radar equipment from environmental hazards such as bird strikes, hail, and extreme aerodynamic stress while remaining transparent to electromagnetic signals.
Under the new agreement, the Nagpur facility will provide an end-to-end service suite for Airbus radomes, including:
- Full structural inspections and testing.
- Advanced paint-stripping, repainting, and curing processes.
- Execution of both major and minor structural repairs.
- Advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and official Release to Service (RTS) certification.
This initiative is viewed as a foundational step toward developing a broader localized Airbus avionics repair network. With the Indian aviation market undergoing rapid growth and preparing for significant widebody fleet inductions, this aerospace MRO expansion is expected to provide essential, high-quality support to customers while streamlining maintenance operations across the region.
