Mexico’s Manufacturing Sector Forecasts US$2.2 Billion Investment for 2026
Mexico’s manufacturing sector is projected to invest more than US$2.2 billion in machinery and production equipment throughout 2026, marking a significant milestone for the country’s industrial capacity. This growth is driven by rising demand within the automotive, appliance, and medical equipment industries, bolstered by a record US$34.968 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) recorded during the first half of 2026. While imports of plastic molds saw a decline in the first half of the year, this shift provides a distinct opportunity for local suppliers to capture a larger share of the supply chain. However, challenges persist for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) regarding cash flow and financial modeling. To address these hurdles, industry clusters are advocating for earlier integration of domestic suppliers into the design and procurement processes of large manufacturers. Scheduled for October 14–15 at the Queretaro Centro de Congresos, the exhibition is set to host over 130 companies and showcase approximately 150 operating machines.
