Suspect in Deadly Pennsylvania Love-Triangle Shooting Dies From Self-Inflicted Wound

EAST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A volatile hostage situation that left one man dead in East Lampeter Township has concluded with the death of the suspect, 29-year-old Tobias John-Allen Click. According to the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office, Click died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The tragedy began unfolding early Saturday morning at a residence in the 400 block of Aaron Lane. Investigators allege that Click, a resident of Susquehanna Township, broke into the home to target his former girlfriend and her current partner, Ernesto Rodriguez.

According to police reports, the victims had received a series of threatening social media messages earlier that morning. While the woman expressed a desire to contact law enforcement, the couple ultimately decided to wait. Their safety was compromised shortly after 6 a.m., when surveillance footage captured Click entering the residence through a downstairs living area.

Upon discovering the intruder, Rodriguez attempted to retrieve a handgun to protect his family, but he was shot multiple times by Click before he could defend himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene. In a disturbing display of violence, investigators noted that Click proceeded to kick Rodriguez in the head as he lay motionless on the floor.

Click then held the woman and her four children captive at gunpoint, repeatedly threatening her life. During the standoff, the woman’s phone rang multiple times. Click initially ordered her to silence the calls, but later commanded her to answer them. During one such interaction, the woman informed the caller—and by extension, Click—that police were on their way. Faced with the arrival of law enforcement, Click fled the residence, reportedly threatening suicide as he departed.

A high-speed pursuit ensued, with Pennsylvania State Police utilizing cell tower triangulation to track Click’s location through Franklin and Cumberland counties. Troopers eventually intercepted his vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 81 near mile marker 44.8 in South Middleton Township.

The pursuit ended in Harrisburg near the intersection of Arsenal Boulevard and Herr Street. When troopers approached the vehicle, they discovered that Click had turned the gun on himself. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he remained until he was pronounced dead the following morning.

Before his death, authorities had filed an extensive list of charges against Click, including first-, second-, and third-degree murder, burglary, kidnapping, and abuse of a corpse. He also faced multiple counts related to the unlawful restraint and kidnapping of the four minors present during the home invasion.

East Lampeter Township police confirmed that the investigation into the incident remains active.
