Kia’s Winning Streak: Six Months of Unstoppable Record-Breaking Sales

IRVINE, Calif. — Kia America has officially entered the record books once again, marking its sixth consecutive month of unprecedented sales growth. In a banner performance for October 2026, the automaker shattered previous benchmarks, reporting 80,008 total units sold—a 16 percent increase over its previous October record.

Retail sales were a significant driver of this momentum, totaling 68,926 units. This figure represents a 20 percent year-over-year surge, underscoring the strong consumer demand at dealerships across the country.

The surge was fueled largely by a massive pivot toward sustainable mobility. Kia’s electrified and hybrid vehicle portfolios saw explosive growth, with sales increasing by 112 percent and 114 percent, respectively, compared to last year. Hybrid variants of the Sorento, Carnival, and Sportage saw double- and triple-digit gains, signaling a major shift in buyer preference toward fuel-efficient options.

“With six consecutive months of record-breaking sales, Kia is accelerating toward a fourth straight annual sales record,” said Eric Watson, vice president of sales operations at Kia America. “An expanding hybrid lineup, the arrival of the all-new, all-electric EV3, and the success of the all-new Telluride and Seltos are adding even more momentum to our growth.”

The company’s model-specific performance was particularly robust. Five individual models—the Telluride, Seltos, Carnival, K4, and Sportage—each achieved their best-ever October sales figures. Furthermore, the Telluride, Sportage HEV, and Carnival HEV reached the highest sales volume for any month in their respective histories. Other high-performing vehicles included the EV9, which saw a 111 percent year-over-year increase, and the Sorento, which grew by 31 percent.

Looking ahead, Kia is banking on continued momentum as it expands its footprint in the entry-level EV market. The company recently announced the nationwide arrival of the 2027 Kia EV3, an all-electric SUV starting at just under $30,000. With an EPA-estimated range of up to 321 miles, the EV3 is positioned to be a cornerstone of Kia’s goal to make sustainable driving more accessible to the average consumer.

In addition to new vehicle rollouts, Kia confirmed minor updates for the 2027 Sorento. The SUV will retain its core features while introducing a new “Black Jade Green” exterior color, a hue that has already proven popular on the flagship Telluride.

As the industry heads into the final quarter of the year, Kia executives expressed confidence that their diverse lineup of internal combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicles will maintain this record-setting pace well into 2027. With a stable of nearly 800 dealers and a focus on both quality and sustainability, the brand appears well-positioned to cement its current growth streak as a long-term trend.
