Here’s a look at promotions, hirings and other noteworthy business events in the Memphis area:

Johnston
Throckmorton

Memphis-based general contractor RKA Construction recently expanded its key leadership team in the Commercial Division with the promotion of Patrick Johnston to President of the Commercial Division and the addition of Cal Throckmorton as Vice President of the Commercial Division.

  • Johnston joined RKA in 2022 as Executive Vice President of its Commercial Services Division. He has led key projects for flagship entities across the Mid-South including Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, Trezevant Manor, the University of Memphis and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Johnston earned his bachelor’s degree in Building Science from Auburn University and is a LEED AP BD+C (Building Design + Construction) Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council.
  • Prior to joining RKA, Throckmorton served in a variety of leadership positions at ARCO Design/Build including Project Manager, Design/Build Manager and, ultimately, Senior Design/Build Manager. Throckmorton is a LEED AP BD+C Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council. He earned his master’s degree in construction management from the University of Alabama.
Webb

Tara Webb, associate vice president for institutional effectiveness at Rhodes College, has been appointed to the new AIR Data Policy Advisory Panel established by the Association for Institutional Research (AIR). Her two-year term, which will last through December 2027, allows her to represent Rhodes in national advocacy efforts related to data policy. AIR is a global association dedicated to institutional research, effectiveness, and strategic planning in higher education. The newly formed panel brings together nationally respected professionals with extensive experience and recognized leadership in postsecondary data, analytics and policy. Its purpose is to enhance AIR’s capacity to engage in and influence discussions surrounding higher education data policy.
