Saiyami Kher has added a new role to her repertoire. The actress has joined the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season as a sports critic, alongside her film commitments. Given her strong sporting background, the move comes naturally. Even as she continues to focus on films, this stint brings her closer to a space she has long been passionate about. She says, “When I was 14, my father recognised my love for cricket and had even asked me to leave school to pursue sports broadcasting. While I was passionate about sports, I wanted to complete my education first. From college, I moved into acting, theatre and eventually films. I’m glad I can now be part of sports alongside the films I’m doing. It has always been the backbone of my life. Whether it’s playing cricket, running marathons, training for Ironman or closely following games, sports instils a discipline that I carry into my work as an actor.”On being part of the ongoing Indian Premier League, Saiyami says, “It’s exciting to look at the game from a different perspective. I still find it surreal that I’m sitting with my childhood heroes, discussing cricket with people like Virender Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist and Harsha Bhogle.” Balancing multiple commitments, the Mauli actress shares, “If things are planned well, there is enough time to do everything you love. Along with IPL on Cricbuzz, I’ve completed two films and I’m currently training for my third Ironman. I hope to continue maintaining this balance.”Reflecting on what ties her passions together, she concludes, “What excites me is how cinema and sport intersect through storytelling. Both are driven by emotion and unpredictability. Whether I’m on set or discussing a game, I’m engaging with stories. If I can bring honesty to both, I know I’m on the right path.”
