Record-breaking total raised at The Myton Hospices Moonlight Walk

A RECORD-breaking Moonlight Walk has raised over £280,000 for The Myton Hospices.

More than 1,800 people put their best foot forward in Warwick, helping the charity raise £282,048 – the highest amount ever raised at a Myton event.

Participants lit up the town centre and the grounds of Warwick Castle as they completed 5km and 10km routes in support of the charity, which provides care free of charge to people living with life-limiting illnesses across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Special guest David Bradley, local actor best known for his roles in the Harry Potter film series and Game of Thrones, joined the event to officially open the Moonlight Walk, with hundreds of volunteers helping to deliver the event safely and smoothly.

The event exceeded its original fundraising target of £250,000, with donations continuing to come in.

Money raised from this year’s Moonlight Walk could fund the running cost of the inpatient unit at Warwick Myton Hospice for two months.

Myton spokesperson Natalie Walker said:“The success of this year’s Moonlight Walk reflects the continued support we receive from our local community. With more than 1,800 people taking part, the event has not only raised a record-breaking amount, but also highlighted the vital role fundraising plays in sustaining our services. As a charity, we rely on this support to ensure we can continue providing specialist care to patients and their families.”
