Aamir Khan was seen wiping away tears at the ‘Ek Din’ event in Mumbai, while Sai Pallavi candidly shared that she feels ‘nervous’ ahead of stepping into Hindi cinema with the romantic drama.
Aamir Khan grew emotional during a musical showcase in Mumbai for his son Junaid Khan’s upcoming film ‘Ek Din’, wiping away tears as he sat alongside co-star Sai Pallavi. The event, titled ‘Ek Din Ki Mehfil’, featured performances and previews from the film, which marks Pallavi’s first appearance in Hindi cinema.
Videos from the evening showed Khan overwhelmed as he watched a segment from the film, with Pallavi and Junaid leaning in to comfort him. The veteran actor later applauded Pallavi’s performance, calling her “the best actress in our country today,” while also offering light-hearted praise for his son.

At the event, Khan was seen dabbing his eyes with his T-shirt as he sat between Pallavi and Junaid. In another clip from the evening, he lauded Pallavi’s work, stating, “Sai has done such an amazing job, you are going to get blown away. For me, Sai is the best actress we have in our country today.”
He then spoke about Junaid’s performance with characteristic humour, “Junaid ne bhi thik thak kiya hai. Woh mera beta hai toh kuch bol nahi sakta (Even Junaid did a good job, but he is my son, so I can’t say much).” Khan also briefly sang the film’s title track, adding to the emotional atmosphere of the evening.
Sai Pallavi’s nervous but heartfelt address
Taking the stage to speak to the audience, Pallavi apologised for her limited fluency in Hindi, telling attendees, “I didn’t know we were going to speak at the event. At least I would’ve learned something in Hindi… Thank you so much. This evening was great.”
Reflecting on her journey, she added, “Today was a very emotional day for me, because I didn’t know this was happening. Whatever I’ve done has led me here and I’m grateful for the journey.”
She thanked the team and singled out Khan, saying, “Thank you Aamir Sir for putting me in a space like this and making me a part of this movie, where I am able to enjoy this and feel so much love.” Pallavi also joked about feeling shy expressing her emotions publicly: “At least Aamir sir is crazy enough to be so emotional in public… I wish the lights were dim so that I can be more emotional.”
About ‘Ek Din’
‘Ek Din’ follows the story of an introverted office worker, played by Junaid, who quietly harbours feelings for his colleague, portrayed by Pallavi. While he struggles to confess his love, the narrative shifts when her character suffers Transient Global Amnesia during a trip to Japan, remembering only him after he saves her life. The incident transforms their dynamic, pushing the relationship into unexpected emotional territory.

The film is directed by Sunil Pandey, an associate of Khan known for his work on ‘Delhi Belly’ and ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. It reunites Khan with filmmaker Mansoor Khan as co-producers, years after their collaborations on classics like ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ and ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’.
Aamir Khan on why advance bookings opened early
One of the more unconventional moves by the team was opening ticket sales 39 days before release. Khan explained the decision, saying the film needed additional time to build awareness, given its relatively new cast. He noted in an interview that the early rollout helps the small-scale project catch traction ahead of its May release.
Backed by Aamir Khan Productions and co-produced by Mansoor Khan and Aparna Purohit, ‘Ek Din’, a remake of the 2016 Thai film ‘One Day’, is scheduled to hit cinemas on 1 May.
