Election 2026 Results on TV and BBC iPlayer

On Thursday night, Laura Kuenssberg will be joined in the BBC’s London studio by Reeta Chakrabarti, who’ll be crunching the numbers as the polls close and results come in. It wouldn’t be an election programme without renowned psephologist and audience favourite Sir John Curtice, who’ll be analysing all the key results and telling us how the new political landscape is shaping up.
On Friday morning, Sophie Raworth leads coverage with Vicki Young at her side, picking up after a special election edition of Breakfast live from Salford on BBC One.
Clive Myrie is in Cardiff to cover the Senedd elections as Wales counts its votes. Labour has been in power since the start of devolution, and a new voting system adds to the unpredictability of the results.
From Edinburgh, Kirsty Wark fronts network coverage of the Scottish Parliament elections, where the SNP has been in power for nearly 20 years.
In the evening, Laura Kuenssberg rejoins Sophie for an elections special at 7pm, ahead of a Question Time special, and an extended Newsnight election special hosted by Matt Chorley on 8 May.
Correspondents and regional political editors will be at the key counts for the English council elections.
Election 2026 Results on Radio and BBC Sounds
On radio and BBC Sounds, Radio 4 and 5 Live will join forces for an overnight results programme presented by Nick Robinson and Rachel Burden.
Across England, BBC Local will be delivering live and local coverage from counts on your local BBC radio stations as results come in on Friday 8 May.
Scotland Election Results Coverage

BBC Scotland’s news teams will tell the story of the how Scotland voted in the Scottish Parliament election with an ambitious all-day results programme on 8 May. Election Scotland 2026, which airs from 9.30am on BBC One Scotland and on iPlayer, will have breaking news from every count, compelling interviews and expert analysis.
There’ll also be extended teatime and late editions of Reporting Scotland, presented by Laura Goodwin.
BBC Scotland News online is running a daily live page with news, features and interviews from the campaigns, and in-depth analysis of the big issues. Digital content will include short-form pieces themed around explainers, news roundups, and manifesto digests. These will be on BBC digital channels and on a range of prominent social media platforms.
The digital offering will also include an online policy grid – an interactive tool giving a summary of where the main parties stand on the issues that are most important to voters.
There’s also extensive coverage for Gaelic audiences throughout the campaign on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal’s news programming, on BBC ALBA’s daily news programme show An Là, and online at bbc.co.uk/naidheachdan. On Friday 8 May, there’ll be continuous content on radio and online as the results come in.
Wales Election Results Coverage

BBC Wales reporters will be at all declarations across the country for the Friday results, with Political Editor Gareth Lewis playing a key role throughout the campaign and results day, providing expert analysis and interviews with key politicians.
As the counting starts, BBC News Online and Cymru Fyw Live pages will follow every twist and turn, bringing the drama of election results day. BBC Wales journalists will be reporting live from the counts, providing on-the-ground analysis and reaction from the winners and losers.
There will be special results programmes across BBC One Wales and S4C on results day, providing the analysis as the picture emerges and accompanied by state-of-the-art graphics to demonstrate key explainers. Join Nick Servini on BBC One Wales for Election Wales 2026 and Bethan Rhys Roberts and Rhodri Llywelyn will be keeping S4C viewers across all the action on Etholiad Senedd 2026.
James Williams and Dot Davies will present the results programme on BBC Radio Wales, and listeners can join Dewi Llwyd and Kate Crockett on BBC Radio Cymru.
On BBC One Wales, Politics Wales will broadcast special extended programmes during the election campaign and will also air an hour long special on Sunday, 10 May, analysing the results.
