Environment Agency extends terms of senior board members to ensure continuity in governance

The UK Government has confirmed that the terms of three non-executive members of the Environment Agency Board have been extended by 18 months, a move aimed at maintaining stability and continuity in environmental governance at a time of sustained operational pressure across the sector.

Ines Faden da Silva, Stewart Davies and Lilli Matson will now remain in post until 31 January 2028, following extensions that take effect from 1 August 2026.

Faden da Silva will continue in her role as Deputy Chair of the Board and Chair of regional flood and coastal committee meetings. Davies will remain Chair of the Environment and Business Committee, while Matson will continue to oversee the Pension Committee.

The appointments, made in line with the Ministerial Governance Code on Public Appointments, are stated to be based on merit and conducted independently of ministerial or political influence.
