Sky News halted in breaking alert – and it’s bad news for ‘confused’ Trump | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Sky News was interrupted for a breaking news update on Monday evening as the news channel cut straight to US President Donald Trump standing at a podium as he spoke to the press.

He said that he has called off a planned attack on Iran because mediating countries told him a deal to end the war is getting closer. But then he laid all of his cards on the table as he added: “We were getting ready to do a very major attack tomorrow. I’d put it off for a little while, maybe forever, because we have had some discussions with Iran.” Trump went on to say: “We have informed Israel and other people in the Middle East have been involved with us. It is a very positive development but we will see whether or not it amounts to anything.

“We’ve had periods of time where we thought we were getting pretty close to making a deal, but it didn’t work out. Now, this is a little bit different. It’s not something I wanted to do, but I have no choice because we cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon.”

However, viewers were perplexed, saying that Trump appeared to be “confused”.

Posting to X/Twitter, one said: “Why is this moron discussing half-planned military strategy with the world’s press?

“We were going to do this, and then we thought we might do that, and so now we are winning biggly. Did you EVER hear a president sound so f***ing confused??”

Someone else penned: “Trump is just full of hot air, threatens something then backs down once again.”

A third sarcastically added: “Oh look, Trump threatened an attack and then called it off… When have we seen that before – oh, that’s right, every single week. Now let’s see who made millions off this.”

Another person commented: “Silence should not be considered a sign of weakness. Allow time for mediation to proceed. War is costly. No one wins.

“Solutions are possible if both parties are authentic in their mission to resolve their differences peacefully. If parties are deceitful, everyone loses.”
