Alphabet (GOOGL, Financials) said Google Cloud customers in India faced intermittent network disruptions after a fire at a third-party data center triggered an emergency shutdown.
The shutdown isolated a local network point in Delhi and reduced capacity across the metro area. Google Cloud said traffic from Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and nearby regions saw periods of higher latency.
For businesses, that kind of disruption can quickly become frustrating. Apps may slow down, websites may lag and internal systems can become harder to use.
Google Cloud said there was no immediate workaround while restoration work continued. The company also said it was looking at ways to reroute or reduce traffic pressure.
The incident is a reminder that even large cloud providers depend on local infrastructure partners. Investors will watch how quickly Google restores normal service and whether the outage affects customer confidence in one of its key growth markets.
