Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan recently opened up about his favourite Bollywood movies. He also shared that one of them reminds him early shooting days in Jammu & Kashmir’s Srinagar. Here’s what he said:
Pawan Kalyan reveals his two favourite Bollywood movies
Pawan Kalyan is one of the most popular South Indian celebrities. He is one of the rare public figures who has achieved major success in both cinema and politics, with an active fan base across Telugu-speaking regions.
Kalyan, who has starred worked in at least 31 films, recently opened up about his two favourite Bollywood movies. One of them is the biggest blockbuster of recent times and the other is a critically-acclaimed horror thriller. The actor cum politician’s favourite Hindi movies are Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar and Manish Kaul’s Baramulla.
In a recent interview with ANI, the Deputy Chief Minister shared that he loved Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster directorial Dhurandhar. He also added, “I also liked another film called Baramulla.

Talking about Baramulla, a film set in Jammu & Kashmir, he recalled his shooting days in Srinagar in the 80s. He said that a lot of Telugu movies used to get filmed in Srinagar. He also said that people used to harass him, asking why he was there.
He added, “During 1987-89, I was in Srinagar. Many Telugu films were shot there. A hostile situation existed back then, and some people used to ask me why I was in Srinagar. We would go shopping during shooting schedules, and some people would heckle us.”
Pawan Kalyan was last seen in Ustaad Bhagat Singh, which released in March 2026. He made his acting debut in 1996 with Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. His major hits include Tholi Prema, Thammudu, Badri, Kushi, Jalsa, Gabbar Singh and others.
Dhurandhar follows Hamza aka Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer Singh), a secret Indian agent who gets sent to Pakistan for Operation Dhurandhar. Hamza is tasked with paralysing the internal criminal networks in Lyari that are responsible for major terrorist attacks in India. Dhurandhar 2 is the sequel to Dhurandhar (2025) as Hamza entrenches himself deeper in the underworld web to exact revenge on those responsible for targeting India. Apart from Ranveer, the Dhurandhar 2 also has R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun and others reprising their roles.
The original Dhurandhar became an all-time blockbuster, grossing about Rs 1,351 crore worldwide. Dhurandhar: The Revenge surpassed it, minting around Rs 1,813 crore worldwide and ₹1,149 crore net in India, making it one of the highest-grossing Hindi films ever. Combined, the duology has earned over Rs 3,000 crore worldwide.
Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale and produced by Aditya Dhar, Baramullareleased directly on Netflix. It received mixed to positive reviews. Set in Kashmir, Baramulla follows DSP Ridwaan Sayyed, a police officer investigating a series of mysterious child disappearances. As the investigation progresses, supernatural events begin to loom, highlighting the region’s troubled history.
