Prayagraj: Hindi has the highest number of vacancies in the upcoming recruitment of assistant professors for 330 aided degree colleges across Uttar Pradesh, with 195 posts slated to be filled.The higher education directorate has forwarded details of 2,107 vacant posts across 44 subjects to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC). Of the total vacancies, 1,699 are in co-educational colleges and 408 in women’s colleges. Notably, none of the state’s 21 minority colleges has reported any vacancy.The recruitment drive, being undertaken after a gap of four years, will see 100 or more posts filled in seven subjects. Besides Hindi (195), the highest vacancies are in chemistry (178), BEd (176), English (111), botany (104), economics (103) and Sanskrit (100).The commission has already released the syllabus for assistant professor recruitment in all subjects. The advertisement is expected to be issued after consultations with officials of the directorate.The vacancy list also includes several subjects with fewer than 10 posts. Asian Culture, anthropology and sitar have one post each, while agricultural statistics and poultry farming have two posts each. Entomology has four vacancies, while agricultural and plant breeding and agricultural extension have five each. There are six posts in geology, seven in horticulture, eight each in agricultural chemistry and agricultural botany, and nine in tabla. The poultry farming posts will not be advertised separately.Overall, recruitment will be conducted for more than 50 posts in 17 subjects. Besides the seven subjects with 100 or more vacancies, 10 subjects have between 50 and 100 posts. These include commerce (99), physics (98), geography (96), political science (94), zoology (91), sociology (81), psychology (71), law (61), history (60) and mathematics (51).
