JAMMU, June 14: Theatre group ‘Natrang’ here today staged Hindi play ‘Shaatir Khiladi’, written by Daya Prakash Sinha and directed by Neeraj Kant.
The play revolves around one ‘Lala Chadami Lal’ who has married for the fourth time as three of his wives have expired. His fourth wife, being much younger in age, makes her husband dance to her tunes. Lala, who was once a very dominating husband has now turned out to be a silly henpecked husband because of the anger and stubbornness of his new wife.
He narrates fake stories of his dominance over his wife in the locality so that he could hide the timidity which he actually shows in front of her.
One day he received elaborate scolding and proper beating from his wife after he failed to gift her dress which she demanded. She gets him out of his own home with condition that he could enter only if he brings that dress along. Finally Lala mortgages his ring to his friend for some money to buy the desired gift for his wife. This makes his friends laugh at him, but as soon as he leaves, their laughter disappears as they came to know that he had given a fake ring in lieu of a heavy amount.
Artists who performed in the play were Aryan Sharma, Akash Wadhwan, Kushal Bhat and Nikshay Mahajan; lights were designed and executed by Neeraj Kant; the show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen and the presentations were done by Bhavya Sharma.
