Armed police were called to a café on Lodge Lane in Toxteth around 5pm on Friday, June 19 following reports that several gunshots were heard inside.
The area remains cordoned off between Lime Grove and Bentley Road, with a number of officers in attendance.
An Air Ambulance was also spotted hovering above the area and North West Ambulance Services has arrived at the scene.
Police said no-one was injured during the incident and following a search of the area several casings were found at the premises on Lodge Lane.
Police officers have been seen “heading in and out” of Bala.bs Soulfood Kitchen on Lodge Lane.
