Actor Madhoo Shah showered praise on Tamannaah Bhatia‘s remarkable career, saying the actress had already earned superstar status in South Indian cinema long before she became a familiar face among Hindi audiences. Madhoo believes Tamannaah’s recent popularity across the country shows how Indian cinema has evolved and become more connected over the years. Tamannaah has spent nearly two decades working across Telugu and Tamil films. During that period, she established herself as one of the leading stars in the South with several commercially successful films including ‘Paiyaa’ and ‘Kedi’.
Madhoo Shah says Hindi audiences are discovering Tamannaah Bhatia
As reported by Bollywood Hungama, in a recent interview, Madhoo shared her thoughts on Tamannaah’s growing recognition among Hindi audiences. She pointed out that many people are now appreciating the actress without fully realising the scale of her achievements in South Indian cinema. She said, “Now everybody is looking at her, Tamannaah Bhatia, as a Hindi actor and they are giving her so much love and so much respect. But you know, before she became famous actually in Hindi, she has been a superstar in the South for the last 10, 12, 15 years. Suddenly they say, who is Tamannaah? She also did South? That’s how Hindi people are talking.”
Regional cinema boundaries have changed
Madhoo also opened up on how the Indian film industry functioned in earlier years. According to her, audiences usually followed films made in their own language, leaving little room for actors to become household names across different regions. She explained that the lack of nationwide recognition was not because performers were ignored. Instead, it showed the way the industry operated before regional cinema became more accessible to audiences across India. Expanding on the topic, Madhoo emphasised that today’s connected entertainment landscape has helped bridge the gap between industries. She believes actors and technicians are now receiving appreciation from audiences across the country.Shah said, “She was a huge star in the South. But the Hindi audiences and the people did not know about it. Because the industries were very separate. Now it has come together. So it’s not ‘not getting credit’. It was how the world was. It was how the cinema was. So now we recognise every actor, every technician and there’s a lot of love and respect.”
Tamannaah Bhatia continues her successful run
Tamannaah Bhatia remains one of the busiest actresses working across multiple film industries. She was most recently seen in the Telugu supernatural thriller ‘Odela 2’, where she played the role of Shiva Shakti.
