“If you see him, do not approach him and call the police immediately”

An urgent ‘do not approach’ warning has been issued over a man currently on the run after escaping custody.

Greater Manchester Police issued the public appeal on Sunday (June 28) after Muiz Olatunji, of no fixed abode but from Salford, ‘escaped lawful custody’.

The 25-year-old is described as a black male, of medium build, with black Afro hair, and is approximately 5ft 10 ins in height. His whereabouts remain unknown.

Police said he is thought to have links to Glasgow and Scotland, as well as Greater Manchester. Olatunji was previously charged earlier this year with assault offences after three custody officers and staff were allegedly attacked on New Years Day.

Anyone who sees him is urged not to approach him and to call the police immediately. A public appeal was shared as part of the police efforts to locate him.

“If you see him, do not approach him – call the police immediately,” the appeal read. “Anybody with information regarding the whereabouts of Olatunji is asked to contact police on 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Always dial 999 in an emergency.”
