During the first half of 2026, the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine’s Central District estimated environmental damage caused by Russian aggression in the Poltava region at more than UAH 2.59 billion.
The Inspectorate announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
According to the agency, since the beginning of the year, its specialists have completed 40 assessments of environmental damage resulting from Russian strikes on industrial facilities.
The total estimated losses amount to UAH 2,590,305,903.
The damage includes uncontrolled emissions of air pollutants released during fires, as well as land contamination and soil pollution.
The inspectorate submits its damage assessment reports to law enforcement agencies for inclusion in criminal investigations into violations of the laws and customs of war. The reports are also forwarded to the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine for inclusion in the national register of environmental damage caused by Russian aggression.
As reported by Ukrinform, according to the State Environmental Inspectorate, confirmed environmental damage caused by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has exceeded UAH 7 trillion.
