Under the project, approximately 370,000 m³ of sand was dredged from the Spitfire Realignment Channel and transported to the reclamation area, where the material is contributing to the development of new port land and future infrastructure.

Executed by TSHD Trud R, the project supports the Port of Brisbane’s long-term expansion plans and increased capacity for future trade and logistics operations,” Rohde Nielsen said.

The Port of Brisbane’s FPE at Fisherman Islands is one of the largest land reclamation projects in the Southern Hemisphere, designed to develop approximately 224 to 235 hectares of new industrial and port land over the next 10 to 30 years.

According to the Port, the FPE is surrounded by a geotechnically engineered sea wall and divided into a number of paddocks which are being progressively reclaimed over the long-term.
