You can’t keep a good man down, and despite being jettisoned by the new leadership at Lidl-Trek in June, Luca Guercilena is now set to take up a major role at RCS Sport.

The Italian is still on the books at Lidl-Trek during a transitional phase but will officially step down as the General Manager at the end of August. Several sources have indicated to us that Guercilena will start at RCS Sport at the beginning of September.
His exact job title at RCS Sport will be announced at a later stage. However, what’s clear is that Guercilena will not become the race director of the Giro d’Italia, with RCS keen not to move Guercilena into a like-for-like role previously held by Mauro Vegni.
