TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) immigration authority has officially expanded its pre-approved 14-day entry permit program. This new policy targets Emirates airline passengers from six additional nations, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, South Africa, and Kenya.
The facility is tailored specifically for short-term tourists holding round-trip tickets or confirmed onward travel documentation. The UAE government introduced this measure as part of its strategy to strengthen the country’s position as a premier global hub for tourism and business. Under the arrangement, the administrative processing of visa applications will be managed by VFS Global via the Dubai Visa Processing Centre (DVPC) digital platform.
Jiten Vyas, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Business Development at VFS Global, explained that the joint program aims to offer travelers a smoother journey. By providing digital access, the administrative procedures have been designed to operate far more seamlessly. “This supports the UAE’s vision of being one of the most accessible and attractive destinations globally,” Vyas said in a statement on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Requirements and Criteria for Entry Permit Application
Tourists wishing to utilize the 14-day entry permit facility must satisfy a set of predetermined travel criteria established by local immigration authorities. The duration of stays within the UAE is capped at a minimum of 48 hours and a maximum of 14 days. Additionally, the applicant’s intended date of arrival must fall within 30 days from the date the online visa application is submitted.
Another binding requirement dictates that applicants must hold a valid residence permit from specified developed nations. Applicants from the six designated countries, including Indonesia, must possess a residence permit valid for at least six months from Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, or a European Union member state. For travelers holding US documentation, a valid Green Card is required, whereas student visas are deemed ineligible.
Through this partnership, eligible tourists will experience greater ease when making short trips to the UAE for tourism, business, or transit purposes. Alongside physical service centers, VFS Global’s online channels are equipped to process visa applications for tourists from 180 nationalities seeking short stays or transit options in and around the Dubai area.
