Adam Lamb, 23, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday (July 3) after pleading guilty to dwelling burglary and taking a vehicle without consent.
In the early hours of February 6, Lamb and another man broke into a home on Dam Lane, stealing keys to a BMW parked outside.
The pair drove off in the stolen vehicle, using it to force another car off the driveway.
The theft was captured on a mobile phone by the vehicle’s owner, who contacted Cheshire Police and informed officers that the BMW was fitted with a tracker and heading towards Bolton.

Cheshire Police alerted Greater Manchester Police (GMP) about the incident, with a GMP officer later locating the stolen BMW parked in an alleyway, with two men in balaclavas nearby.
Upon being spotted by the officer, the men got into the car and fled, reaching speeds of more than 100mph in a 30mph zone before crashing into a parked car and a wall.
Both men ran from the scene but were arrested shortly after, with Lamb being found with cash and the keys to both the BMW and the house.
During police interviews, he denied involvement in the burglary and claimed he had simply been picked up by the driver.
However, officers recovered a mobile phone belonging to Lamb, which had been dropped during the foot chase.
Data from the device showed it had followed the same route as the stolen BMW, linking him directly to the offence, while a matching footwear mark left at the scene also tied Lamb to the crime.
Lamb, of Devonshire Road, Rochdale, was sentenced to 30 months in jail for his offending.
Detective Constable Rebecca Jubb, of CID Proactive North, said: “Despite claiming he had no involvement in the crime, the overwhelming amount of evidence that our officers secured left Adam Lamb with no choice but to plead guilty.”
“It took officers just 35 minutes from the moment the burglary took place to both suspects being tracked down and brought into police custody.
