Producer Maansi Guptey’s first Hindi feature stars Panchayat actor Ashok Pathak in the lead. Explaining her casting decision, she says his performance as Binod revealed an actor with emotional depth and authenticity, making him the ideal choice for the untitled social drama, which is currently in post-production

After backing the Marathi drama Colorphool (2024), starring Sai Tamhankar and Lalit Prabhakar, producer Maansi Guptey is set to make her Hindi feature debut with an untitled social drama. The film stars Panchayat actor Ashok Pathak, best known for playing Binod. Shot entirely in Uttarakhand in a single schedule, the project is currently in post-production. While the makers are aiming for a release later this year, the plans are yet to be officially announced.Explaining why she chose Ashok for the film, Maansi says, “Ashok Pathak has built a strong emotional connection with audiences through his portrayal of Binod in Panchayat. But for me, it wasn’t just a popular character. It showed his ability to make every moment feel authentic.”She adds, “Beyond Binod, I saw an actor with tremendous range and emotional depth. For our film, we wanted someone who could completely immerse himself in the character, and he was the perfect choice.”The film is directed by Sagar Kumar Sharma and produced by Maansi Guptey, Anish Kumar and Dushyant Sand. Besides Ashok, it also features Monica Chaudhary, known for Apharan and Dark 7 White, in a pivotal role. The soundtrack includes songs sung by Rekha Bhardwaj, Nakash Aziz and Kailash Kher.The untitled film marks Maansi’s first Hindi feature as a producer. Before Colorphool, she co-produced the Punjabi film Jugni Yaaran Di (2019) and the short films Painful Pride (2019) and Main Tumhara (2021). With this project, she expands her body of work across Marathi, Punjabi and Hindi cinema.
