Sky News presenter Matt Barbet shared a breaking news announcement with viewers as Donald Trump threatened further Iran strikes and said the US will reinstate its blockade of Iranian ports
Donald Trump was dealt a huge blow yesterday – and it was delivered by Sky News presenter Matt Barbet. As a third consecutive night of US attacks on Iran commenced, Donald Trump declared the US would restore its blockade of Iranian ports and serve as “the guardian” of the Strait of Hormuz.
The broadcaster announced: “Some breaking news to bring you now. Donald Trump has talked about Iran this evening, saying, ‘We’re going to hit them hard tonight and tomorrow. He has spoken on the Hugh Hewitt Show about this. He seems to suggest more military action this evening.”
Tehran and Washington locked horns over the strait’s control on Monday following an exchange of strikes in the region throughout Sunday night. In Trump’s Truth Social post on Monday, he vowed the strait “will remain OPEN, with or without Iran”.
The Sky News presenter added: “The latest flare up between Iran and the US over the Strait of Hormuz just to reiterate that point. He said, ‘We’re going to hit them hard tonight and tomorrow.'”, reports the Express.
Trump has subsequently dismissed the significance of the memorandum of understanding he signed last month with Iran to permanently conclude hostilities between the two nations, claiming it was merely a “test” which carried little weight because the US is dealing with dishonourable “sleaze bags”.
“We’re going to hit them very hard tonight and we’re going to hit them hard tomorrow – and there’s not a damn thing they can do about it,” he says in an interview with conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt. “They have nothing. They have nothing going other than they have big mouths.”
Viewers responded to the Sky News announcement, with one stating: “The president finds himself in an unwinnable war of attrition where the more he hits, the more he loses.”
Another wrote: “Trump is trapped. He is losing control here. It’s always the same. UK should stay well out of all these troubles. We have no business in Iran or US,” added a third.
