TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Actor Ryan Gosling is reportedly set to star in Marvel Studios’ new Ghost Rider feature. As reported by Variety on Saturday, July 25, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Gosling will play Ghost Rider in a standalone film.
The project will be directed by Shawn Levy and is scheduled to hit theaters in 2028.
Levy is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He recently directed and produced the blockbuster hit Deadpool & Wolverine. He is currently collaborating with Gosling, who previously starred in Project Hail Mary, on Star Wars: Starfighter, which is slated for release on May 28, 2027.
Appearing alongside Gosling and Feige on stage in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, Levy praised Gosling as an incredible actor. “We spent a lot of time last year making STAR WARS: STARFIGHTER, and as Ryan started talking about his vision for this character, we started riffing, and I finally said, ‘Bro, let’s ride.’ So guys, we’ll see you in 2028!” he said.
Gosling will become the second actor to portray the Spirit of Vengeance on the big screen, following Nicolas Cage, who played the fiery biker across two Sony features.
Cage first starred in Sony’s Ghost Rider in 2007, portraying motorcycle stuntman Johnny Blaze. In the comic lore and film origin, Johnny bartered his soul to the demon Mephisto in an attempt to cure his father’s cancer.

Cage reprised the role in the 2011 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. However, critical reviews for both films starring Cage were largely negative.
The rights to Ghost Rider later reverted to Marvel Studios, which reimagined the character for the ABC television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
