CWG 2026 India schedule today, August 2: Avtar Singh leads judo push; cycling and closing ceremony on final day

India’s schedule at the Commonwealth Games 2026 today, August 2, brings the curtain down on a memorable campaign in Glasgow, with judo and track cycling offering the final medal chances.

India head into the final day with 39 medals – 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze – an impressive tally despite the curtailed Glasgow 2026 sports programme.

Rio 2016 Olympian Avtar Singh headlines the judo challenge, competing in the men’s -100kg category and looking to add to what has already been a historic Games for Indian judo.

Asmita Dey, who idolises Avtar, became the first Indian judoka to win a Commonwealth Games gold, taking the women’s -48kg title on Thursday, before Harsh Singh doubled the tally soon after.

Yamini Mourya (silver) and Unnati Sharma (bronze) have also made the podium.

Ishroop Narang (women’s -78kg) and Yash Ghangas (men’s +100kg) are the other Indians on the judo mat today.

On the boards, India’s track cyclists chase a maiden Commonwealth Games cycling medal, led by Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam in the men’s 1000m time trial, with Harshveer Singh Sekhon and Dinesh Kumar in the men’s 40km points race.

Sixteen-year-old Lisha Das, the youngest member of India’s Glasgow 2026 contingent, closes out India’s para track cycling in the women’s C4-C5 1000m time trial.

The official closing ceremony at the Hydro will officially conclude the Games.

India will officially take over as hosts of the Commonwealth Games 2030 with a 20-minute cultural showcase at the Glasgow 2026 closing ceremony.

Led by Shankar Mahadevan, Manushi Chhillar and other leading performers, the presentation will celebrate India’s heritage before the Commonwealth Games flag is handed over to Ahmedabad.
