As Mumbai moves past the chaos of the early monsoon showers and settles into the rhythm of pleasant rains, many are finding joy in the season’s simple pleasures. Actress Mugdha Godse is among those soaking in the beauty of the rains while revisiting nostalgic childhood memories filled with homemade delicacies, unexpected rain showers and moments of pure happiness.Recalling her childhood monsoon days, Mugdha shares how the rains brought excitement and comfort in equal measure. “Rainy days used to be so much fun. Wishing it poured a little extra, so we could skip school and sleep a little more… The best part was the amazing food that my mom cooked when it would rain heavily,” she says. For Mugdha, monsoon memories are incomplete without the aroma of freshly prepared snacks and her mother’s special recipes. “Garama garam bhajiyas and chai was to go, but at times she even made poha, upma, sheera, topping it up with her special masala chai. I bet no one could make it like her!” she reminisces. The actress also recalls her playful side during the rains, admitting that getting drenched was one of her favourite activities. “Sometimes I used to sneak out of my house to get drenched in the rain… It’s been my favourite monsoon activity!! And that smell of the soil… It still has my heart,” she adds. While the initial days of this year’s monsoon brought challenges with heavy rainfall, waterlogging and alerts across the city, Mugdha feels Mumbai has now embraced the true spirit of the season. “The initial days of this year’s monsoon were pretty tough on everyone, as there was water logging and alerts. Now that the rains have gone moderate, the spirit of monsoon is live,” she says.Though she misses the comfort of her mother’s monsoon delicacies, Mugdha has created her own rainy-day ritual. “I miss the food that my mom used to cook, but yes my evening ritual on the days that I’m not shooting is to sit by my window, read a book, sip some coffee or tea and watch the beautiful rains,” she shares.Known for her versatility, Mugdha was recently seen in the Marathi drama Frame, which earned appreciation. Continuing to explore diverse roles, she is also making her presence felt across emerging digital platforms with varied performances.
