Daniel Wilkinson, of High Street in Bedmond, will appear at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on February 24, 2027, for a 20-minute trial.
He is accused of exceeding a 40mph speed limit in a restricted zone near Clifton Bridge on the southbound M6 between junctions 39 and 40 in Cumbria.
The alleged offence took place on November 19, 2025.
Wilkinson was driving a Ford vehicle with the index number R100 AOK at the time, according to court records.
The speed limit was in place due to roadworks under a temporary traffic order, officially titled “The M6 Motorway (Junctions 39-40 Carriageways & Slip Roads) (Temporary Restriction and Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025.”
Exceeding a temporary speed restriction during motorway works is an offence under section 16(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
It is also listed under Schedule 2 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.
Wilkinson has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
