Russia has put forth a proposition to explore a railway pathway that could ultimately forge a direct link between the nation and the Indian Ocean, thereby facilitating access to India.
This concept was articulated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin during an interview with TASS. He emphasized the imperative for Russia to investigate alternative routes to mitigate vulnerabilities associated with critical maritime passages, notably the Bosphorus and the Strait of Hormuz.
Should this initiative materialize, it could, in due course, pave the way for an extensive train journey connecting Russia and India.

Khusnullin advocated for Russia to investigate the feasibility of constructing a railway route extending to the Indian Ocean.
One potential trajectory highlighted involves a route commencing in Russia, traversing Turkmenistan, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, before culminating in India.
He affirmed Russia’s readiness to consider any viable option that provides access to India. Nevertheless, it is crucial to note that this remains a preliminary proposal. There is currently no confirmed Russia-India passenger train service, established route, designated ticket pricing, or projected launch date.
