From Fan-Girl Dream to Co-Star: Mamitha Baiju Recalls Missed Meeting with Suriya, Now Shares Screen in ‘Viswanath & Sons’
Mollywood sensation Mamitha Baiju, fresh off the success of films like ‘Dude’ and ‘Jana Nayagan’, is now poised for her most anticipated venture, ‘Vishwanath & Sons’. The ‘Premalu’ actress recently captivated audiences at the Kerala pre-release event for the film by sharing a heartwarming and relatable school-day anecdote involving her now co-star, the acclaimed actor Suriya.
Mamitha revealed a moment from 2015 when, as a young fan, she eagerly wished to travel to Kochi to meet Suriya. However, her parents’ decision to prevent the trip led to significant disappointment at the time. Years later, fate has intervened, bringing her full circle to share the screen with the very actor she once admired from afar.
A Childhood Wish: Mamitha Baiju Recalls Suriya’s 2015 Visit
During the engaging Kerala pre-release event, Mamitha vividly recounted the incident from 2015. She was a Class 8 student, while her elder brother was in Class 11. News had spread that Suriya was visiting a prominent mall in Kochi for a special event. Her brother, along with his friends, made the journey to the city with the hope of catching a glimpse of the star.
As quoted by the Reporter website, Mamitha shared, “In 2015, sir had come to a mall in Kochi for an event. At the time, I was studying in Class 8 and my brother was in Class 11. My brother and his friends went to the mall to see Suriya. I really wanted to meet Suriya sir too, but my parents didn’t let me go.”
She further elaborated on the family’s rationale, explaining that “Back then, even travelling from Kottayam to Kochi was a big deal.” The distance and the logistics made it a challenging proposition for her family. “My brother met Suriya sir, took a photo with him and came back. When he showed me the picture, I felt really upset,” she admitted, capturing the essence of a fan’s yearning.
From Fan Moment to Film Set: A Fortunate Turn of Events
Reflecting on this remarkable trajectory, Mamitha expressed profound gratitude for how circumstances have transformed over the years. “But today, being able to act in sir’s film and stand here with him at Lulu Mall in Thiruvananthapuram feels like a great blessing,” Mamitha stated, underscoring the incredible journey from a missed fan opportunity to a professional collaboration.
