Akshay Kumar's Highest Opening Day Performances at the Hindi Box Office Since the Pandemic: Bhooth Bangla Secures 8th Position, While Sooryavanshi Dominates.

Akshay Kumar‘s latest film, Bhooth Bangla, made a strong debut at the Indian box office, earning Rs. 11.50 crore nett on its opening day, which was Friday. The film, directed by Priyadarshan, also garnered Rs. 3.50 crore nett from previews on Thursday, bringing its total to Rs. 15 crore nett. This impressive start positions Bhooth Bangla as one of Kumar’s significant releases in recent times.

In the context of post-pandemic cinema, Bhooth Bangla ranks as Akshay Kumar’s eighth biggest opener, with Sooryavanshi still holding the top position. When considering the combined total of previews and opening day earnings, Bhooth Bangla rises to third place among his films. Industry norms typically separate preview earnings from opening day figures, which suggests that the film could have achieved a similar Rs. 15 crore nett on Friday without the preview earnings.

Notably, Bhooth Bangla stands out as the largest opener for Akshay Kumar in the post-pandemic landscape, particularly as it is an original film without any franchise backing and was released on a non-holiday. This achievement is even more significant when factoring in the preview earnings. While Kumar’s previous film, Sky Force, did not perform as well, Bhooth Bangla’s success highlights the potential for original content in the current market.

Akshay Kumar’s prolific output in recent years has resulted in a substantial list of films released post-pandemic, allowing for a top ten ranking based on opening day performances. While many of his contemporaries have released fewer films, Kumar’s strategy of maintaining a steady flow of releases has kept the box office active, which is crucial in an industry that often faces long gaps between major releases.

Looking ahead, Akshay Kumar has two more films, Welcome To The Jungle and Haiwaan, set to release soon. The box office performance of these upcoming projects will be closely watched, as audiences and industry insiders alike are eager to see if they can replicate the success of Bhooth Bangla. As the film landscape continues to evolve, Kumar’s ability to draw audiences remains a focal point for the industry.
