Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasises India’s importance as an economic partner ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has recognised India as a vital economic ally as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his visit to Australia from July 8 to 10. In a statement issued by the Australian Prime Minister’s Office, it was noted that India, being the world’s fourth-largest and fastest-growing economy, is a crucial economic partner for Australia. Albanese stated that the bilateral relationship is supported by a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as well as strong economic and cultural ties. He added that cooperative efforts in trade, defence, security, and technology are yielding mutual benefits. Albanese remarked, ‘The Australia-India relationship has never been more consequential, and our partnership fosters peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.’ The upcoming visit will see the two leaders convene in Melbourne for the Australia-India Annual Leaders Summit, as both countries look to deepen their diplomatic relationship. The meeting marks the first significant exchange since their previous encounter at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg last November. Concurrently, Prime Minister Modi will also be engaged in a three-nation tour covering Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand, commencing on July 6. This tour is expected to focus on enhancing bilateral ties and addressing regional challenges, particularly in the context of the evolving geopolitical landscape in the Indo-Pacific area.
